Rainy Sunday

Hi everyone. I hope you have had a lovely weekend. I spent this cosy Sunday with an old friend of mine. We've known each other for some five years now but along the way we kind of lost touch in high school as we were discovering ourselves and finding out who we are and who we want to be. We met up today and I'm grateful that we both took out the time and effort to do this because friendships are important. Real friends are hard to find and when we do succeed, we should hold on to them. I want to take the time to say thank you to my dear friend, Maria, for her kindness, friendship and for lending me her cute little elephant umbrella when I had to venture out into the pouring rain to get home.

These were my thoughts of the day on this gloomy Sunday evening. And as always, thank you for reading!

Flowers

Happy Friday everyone!
Today I am a very happy girl. Not only because the sun is finally shining again after a week full of rain, but also because I got a very pleasant surprise today. I went out to pick up a package earlier today and when I got back a girl was standing outside my door holding a bouquet of flowers! I was so surprised to find out that my sweet boyfriend had sent me flowers on our anniversary because he hadn't said a word or even hinted about it. I am so happy that I got home just in that minute :)

Just as I was done unwrapping the beautiful flowers Eddie somehow managed to flip over his entire litter box, sigh.. So I had to stop admiring the flowers for a minute to go clean that up. Fingers crossed for he won't do any more damage for now, such as knocking over the vase or something ;)
Here's a little cute picture of Eddie, feeling very sorry for the mess he made.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned ahead of you.

Beauty essential: the lip exfoliator + DIY

One thing that is highly underrated but should, in my humble opinion, be part of every girl's beauty routine is to exfoliate the lips. Many take it as a given to exfoliate and scrub the face but neglects the lips. This is such a shame since the lips are just as important as the rest of the face and keeping them in tip-top shape should be high priority as well! Exfoliating the lips will remove the dry, dead and chapped skin and make them all smooth again. This is also very crucial if you - like me - like add some color to your lips in the form of wearing lipstick. I love bright and pretty colors, especially in the summer, so with summer lurking just around the corner, I decided to do a little post on a very good and very wallet-friendly lip exfoliator by Eyes Lips Face.

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator - here

Personally I think Eyes Lips Face make some really great products with prices even the most budget-sensitive ones wouldn't say no to, and this one is no different. The only thing downside is that their shipping is kind of pricey, but luckily they often launch different kinds of campaigns and offers with either free shipping or discounts that will make up for the shipping. Right now you can get 20% off your order with the code 052013 (for UK & EU) and 052014 (for Italy). Minimum spend is £20/24€ and the offer does not include sale items (which to be fair, are already incredibly cheap priced).

I got this lip exfoliator for £3.75 a month ago or so along with some other items and I really like it. The smell is kind of like a fusion of chocolate, vanilla and perhaps even a little bit of coffee, although it tastes mostly of vanilla. It works kind of like a sugar scrub but it's also infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils, so there's more benefits to it than a homemade sugar scrub.

eyes lips face elf lip exfoliator review

If you've never exfoliated your lips before, fear not - elf has been so nice as to provide instructions with the product! Although how to use it is probably very self-explanatory.. All you need to do is scrub your lips with it (which is made as easy as can be with the product in a lipstick tube), wash it off and then apply a lip balm (I always use Locobase, which you can read about here).
I try to exfoliate once a week or before putting on lipstick if my lips are especially dry/chapped. In the latter case I will exfoliate as the first thing in my makeup routine so the lip balm has time to set in and make my lips super soft and lipstick-ready. I would highly recommend this product, however, if you're not quite convined that your lips need scrubbing or the price (unlikely) is too high, I'll list some DIY methods below :)

1. Sugar-based scrub
As I've mentioned earlier, the elf lip exfoliator was kind of like a sugar scrub so if you're looking for a DIY substitute, this is it. All you will need is a little bit of olive oil or honey and some sugar. Mix the two things together to a pasty consistency and proceed exactly as if it was the elf lip exfoliator.

2. Petroleum jelly
Rub some petroleum jelly on your lips and exfoliate gently using a very soft toothbrush. Don't forget the lip balm afterwards!

Do let me know if you try any of the things and how it went. And don't forget to share if you know of other/better (DIY) lip exfoliators :)

Elizabeth Arden Goodie Bag

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you've all got a wonderful weekend planned ahead of you :)
I am so sorry I've been so absent this week, but the Internet has failed me since Wednesday.. Honestly, how did people live without Internet? Luckily, the weather has been great so I've been able to lie outside (in my new bikini) and soak up some sun, but I can't even begin to imagine how bored I would've been had it been gloomy and rainy weather!

Anyway, a few days ago Elizabeth Arden held an event to celebrate their new store in Magasin, a huge department store in Copenhagen. I went with a bunch of girlfriends and we all got a makeup consultation and then a little goodie bag with lots of great stuff! Seeing as I haven't done a beauty post in a while, I thought this would be a great opportunity, so here goes..

The Ceramide Capsules
Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules serum review

I've always wanted to try these but somehow other serums have always *accidentally* ended up in my bathroom and I never had the chance... till now!
These little capsules have a lot of benefits but the bottom line is that they contain Ceramides, which gives your skin a firmer and smoother look.
The capsules look so nice and delicate, and it's always nice with something different than the usual bottle! The downside is that, in my opinion, one capsule lasts long enough for 3-4 applications, and squeezing the serum out quickly becomes one a messy affair, not to mention storing it for two days. I don't know if Elizabeth Arden users just have big faces or uses a lot of serum, but the size isn't really working for me.
However, the product itself is great. It doesn't really have a smell, unlike the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum I've gushed about before, but it really lives up to its claims to be a "lightweight, silky-smooth - yet non-greasy - serum."
To be honest though, I think I still think I might stick to my Truth Serum in the future. But with that being said, I haven't used it long enough to really give an opinion on how well it sticks to the proclaimed benefits, so maybe I'm biased because of the heavenly scent of the Truth Serum ;)

Beautiful Color Lash Enhancing Mascara
... did absolutely nothing for me, probably because I didn't receive a waterproof version. Non-waterproof mascaras do nothing to my straight, sparse Asian eyelashes, so if you have eyelashes like me, I highly recommend trying ANY waterproof mascara and I guarantee a difference! I read online that it has something to do with the waterproof versions drying faster and therefore they "keep" the eyelashes curled when you apply the mascara (feel free to correct me if this is wrong!) With this one and any other non-waterproof mascaras, there's no difference at all between curling and not curling my eyelashes, because they simply "fall down". So yeah, no-go!

Lip Protectant Stick
Elizabeth Arden Lip Protectant Stick Berry review

It looks so pretty, doesn't it? I received this lipstick with the color 05 Berry, which looks a lot redder than it is when applied. The color is not at all as prominent as it might seem, and actually looks a bit "uneven" on the lips - I have no idea why. It tastes and smells just like their lip glosses, aka of vanilla. I think lipsticks/glosses with taste is a bit of a love-hate thing. Either you like it or you don't, and in my case, I don't.
However, I think it would be great to use as a lip balms with a tint of color, and the SPF15 is always a plus, right?

Eight Hour Cream
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream review

The famous Eight Hour Cream.. I've been dying to try this out! Some of you might know that I've referred to this cream before in another beauty post, but if not, the long story short is that I'm a lip balm addict and my go-to cream is one named Locobase that I just cannot find anywhere outside Denmark. I'm always worried about what to do if I ever run out, but I've heard little whispers about this one being just as good - if not better! Now I haven't used it long enough to see or feel actual results, so I'll keep you guys posted on this one :)

Red Door Aura Perfume
Elizabeth Arden Red Door Aura Perfume review

I am the worst person in the world to describe a scent.. I mean, I can tell you if a thing smells like lemon or lavender, but a perfume scent? How do you describe something containing a mixture of so many different scents (half of which I don't even know what is)? For me, it's so incredibly difficult to put other words to a perfume scent other than something like, "it smells wonderful", like this one does! So I'll leave it to the people behind Elizabeth Arden to describe this one:
"The dazzling floral bouquet opens with a sparkling introduction of Luscious Raspberry and Sicilian Bergamot. The heart maintains the timeless signature of Red Door but is made more youthful and airy using luminous accents of Orange Flower and a more ethereal quality of Jasmine"

That was all for now guys. I really hope you enjoyed this post, and feel free to leave a comment down below - it would mean a lot to me!
Thank you so much for reading.

The chip sandwich

A few days ago a good friend of mine passed on this incredibly, delicious sandwich recipe to me and I just knew I had to share it here. When she told me that the trick is to put chips in the sandwiches I was completely flabbergasted.. You put what in what? I had never heard of that combination before and to be honest I was a bit skeptical to say the least! However, after my first bite, I was completely sold. It gives a really good taste and crunchy feel compared to the traditional sandwich. The next day I went ahead and made my own version which I think turned out pretty well.

chips chicken sandwich food lunch

It's super easy to make, perfect for lunch or when you're just feeling like grabbing a quick bite to eat.

Ok, if you want to try it out, here's what you'll need for 1 sandwich:
2 slices of bread
Lettuce
Tomato
Mozzarella
Chicken breast (sliced)
Cucumber
Chips (I think Chili Tortilla are the best, but Sour Cream & Onion are good too!)
Chili sauce

All you need to do is to slice the tomato, mozzarella and cucumber and add all the ingredients on a slice of bread. Add some delicious chili sauce on top and another slice of bread and you're done! Easy peasy and super yummy!

Thank you for reading, and if you're going to try it out, let me know how it went and if you liked it :)

Workout outfit inspiration

Happy Friday everyone!
It seems like it's going to be 18 degrees here in Copenhagen today, so right now I'm as happy as can be :)
The good weather also keeps me highly motivated about the whole working out thing, so I decided to do another post about it, I hope you don't mind ;)

To me, good sport clothing has been a big help in motivating me to get off that couch, so I thought I'd share some pieces with you guys today.

I own some of these pieces myself and I think it's great to know that I'm wearing proper workout clothing when I break a sweat.
Thank you for reading and have a great weekend.

What do you think of these pieces?
